Women

In many countries and cultures all over the world women or girls and men do not have equal rights and economic opportunities. This is no different in large parts of India, especially the rural areas, where women play a minor role in society and, often from poor families, suffer from hunger and poverty in greater numbers and to a greater degree than men.

One possibility to raise the status of women is education. Improving the position of women may even rewrite the future of our planet to some extent. Just imagine the enormous impact of so many now idle capacities of women finally brought into use could have.

Unfortunately, poor families cannot afford to send their children to school. And if they could, they'd rather send sons than daughters, since sons stay to live with their parents, earn a living and look after them. Daughters very often are being married off and leave home to live with their families-in-law. Parents therefore tend to be reluctant to invest in them.

Girls who are getting an education, however, bring their knowledge home, letting their families and other villagers benefit from it. Education gives them the opportunity to become agents of change. Education equals opportunity: it provides hope to earn a living, to afford education for their children, for a better home, for clean drinking water. Education has a huge positive impact!

Another way of empowering women is by giving them micro credits, helping them to explore new horizons through economic activity. It enables them, for example, to buy and sell vegetables, to purchase a goat and earn money by selling its milk or to buy a sewing machine and make clothes. By the way, women have proven to be better financial managers than men, focusing on their children’s future and thus making deliberate decisions.

Increasing women’s awareness should also include personal hygiene and health care by providing knowledge as well as practical advice on subjects like disease prevention, the menstrual cycle, nutrition and food preparation, pregnancy and giving birth et cetera.

Thanks to the progressive views of the KOGS and MPCC founder, due attention is paid to the issues mentioned above:

  • It would seem from all the above that the fate of mankind is in the hands of women, being the early childhood educators. Much of what they know, children learn from women. Women lay a foundation for their further development.
